Day 25: Last day in Amsterdam

I had tickets to the Anne Frank museum today … I was SOOO tired this morning after the late night, but ya just gotta GET UP. Really rainy today. Gotta say though … I honestly expected rain every day as I was looking at the forecast before the trip. I just planned on it.

But.

The universe gave me better weather than I planned for. When you have no or low expectations, you will not be disappointed. Seriously though on the weather. Rain forecasted EVERY DAY. I’ve had two or three days when it was a little too much. Today and maybe yesterday were the first days I’ve been a little cold. I run hot in general anyway, but my fingers got a bit chilly.

Notwithstanding … bus to Amsterdam, 20 or so minute walk to the Anne Frank museum. It was cool, but touristy. They did have umbrella bags though. They have these cool gadgets that broadcast the audio tour … they probably have them in the US too, but I used them here and at the Chocolate museum. I kept trying to channel the moment, to feel what it must have been like to be in hiding for years, and then meet the ultimate fate.

It was chilly and wet and I knew my brain couldn’t do much more, so I charted a google map course back to the train station via the red light district. It was really wet & windy, so I knew that trying to squeeze more in would just be silly. Plus, all of it is amazing, so just soaking in the experience is perfect.

Now I’m back in Zandvoort. I really do start tearing up when I think about going back home. But I also feel like I’ll live bigger now. Be more aware of making the most of what is in front of me.

From the Facebook:

It’s a wrap.
I did the Anne Frank museum and wandered, and I’m toast.
Super rainy and windy.
On the train back to Zandvoort to dry out and pack … head to the airport early.
I’m already welling up with tears to be done with this adventure.
A few moments of actual worry.
5 concerts.
I’m not even sure how many countries
Croatia (Dubrovnik, Split, Zagreb, Plitvička, Pula, Groznjan) Montenegro, Mostar, Ljubljana, Venice, Cinque Terre, Nice, Charleroi, Antwerp, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Zandvoort …
Trains
Planes
Automobiles
Ubers
Busses
Trams
Honestly, my adventures in miscalculations were some of the best things.
I’ll totally do it differently next time, but this was perfect.
Knowing you can freaking do ANYTHING is quite profound.
