Day 24: Mostly Rotterdam Art & Little Dragon

If you know me, you know my favorite thing is music, so this was a good one.

I left my property in Zandvoort in the late morning and headed towards Rotterdam to see Little Dragon. I honestly didn’t explore too much, except a quick visit to The Hague. The plus and minus of not knowing what the hell I’m doing, is that just driving through is great. I can see how The Hague would be a bustling summer location, kinda yesteryear. Highlight was a coffee stop along the way. I wasn’t in a hurry, so just stopped when I felt like it.

I got to Rotterdam too late to REALLY explore, but WAYYYYY too early for the concert. I parked at the venue, and then just walked. The art pics are just from wandering. Ended up at an African restaurant for dinner. I asked for recommendations, and in hindsight, when he asked if I liked fish and might choose “the catch of the day,” … his tone was a little off (like, PLEASE PICK THIS BECAUSE IT’s going to spoil if you don’t eat it.). It was fine, but fishy & dry. The rice and salad were good though, and I got through more of my Euros. The music was also good … ;). Yay!

Then to the concert … Maassilo is an amazing venue – super industrial and HUGE. Little Dragon was SUCH a good show. I’ve been following her/them for years. She’s unmistakable. It was even better than I’d imagined. Dance, emotion, all the good stuff. Met cool people. Nick & Quinn from Phoenix, a lady my age-ish with her kids from Amsterdam … lingered too long, only because I had a hour drive back to Zandvoort, but it was absolutely brilliant and magic.

As I was departing, there was some after-hours event going on with a bazillion people so I actually had to turn around with my tiny car (they’re all tiny here) and go back the wrong way. The people did not care. Nor did I 😉 … Got back to Zandvoort about 1:30am. Mind you, still car-parking so park plus 10 minute walk. Absolutely wiped but happy by the time I got back to my space.
