I actually laid low on Day 4. I got back to the hotel about 3:30am from the Dance experience and we had a free day the next day. My knee had been wonky from the flight and all the walking, so it was pretty tender after dancing for several hours … SO! Coffee, breakfast, a little pool time and chill.
Captured our typical breakfast fare from the last few days. It is hearty, but not gourmet, although I did dig the espresso machine thing and finally nailed down exactly what to push to get the drink right. (2x “Long Espresso”).
Day 5 was time to leave Dubrovnik. We traveled towards Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina. I love looking at all the interesting treats at the gas/food stops.
It took a while to get to Mostar. It was similar to architecture we’ve seen already, but it still boggles my mind to be walking among buildings that are hundreds of years old … although the majority of Mostar was destroyed in the war. Our tour guide was 13 years old and witnessed carnage. He was quite emotional when he talked about the slaughter of the people and destruction of the town.
We had lunch and then some free time. Many many shops sell the exact same souvenirs, but the guide said if we saw copper or leather it was most likely made in Mostar. I found one vendor with different copper items (earrings, pendants, etc.) so purchased several for about 5 euros each. One thing I’ve found in most places is magnets or postcard-sized original art, mostly of landmarks. I’ve tended to find those vs. just regular postcards.
